Install Nakivo Backup & Replication on Windows 10

Looking for a one stop backup solution for your workstation, server and database? Try Nakivo Backup & Replication. It’s an integrated backup solution suitable for small business to large enterprise. It supports multiple backup sources and destination. In this article, I will guide you how to install Nakivo Backup and Replication on Windows 10.

Before we jump to the installation, I want to give a brief information about this great software. Nakivo offers backup feature that can be used to backup your Windows Server, VMware machines, Microsoft HyperV and so on. It also can be used to backup your cloud infrastructures. Not only the OS, we can use this backup software to back up our data.

You can obtain the installation file for Nakivo Backup and Replication here. You can try it for free for 14 days before deciding to purchase the full version. The installation is very simple. First, choose the installation destination as shown below.

Nakivo use the web browser to manage the backup tasks. The default webUI port is 4443 and Transporter port is 9446. Make sure you allow the firewall for these ports.

Once completed, you should see this window

After the installation completed, it will automatically open the Nakivo webUI. You may see the following screen on your web browser.

Click Advanced and choose proceed to Localhost. Finally, the Nakivo webUI should open. First, we need to create a new user and then in few moments, we are ready to add new server.

Add a New Physical Machine

From the Inventory menu, click Add New and then choose Physical Machine.

Type the Display name, IP address, user name and password for the server. Don’t forget to choose the machine type. Nakivo supports Windows and Linux machines. If you are adding a Linux machine, it will use the SSH protocol.

You can also backup various system such as:

  • Oracle database
  • SQL Server
  • VMware vCenter
  • Microsoft 365 account
  • Microsoft Hyper-V host or cluster

Unfortunately, there is no backup support for Microsoft SQL Server, MYSQL Server or PostgreSQL. It would be great if the developer provide this options.
