FOG is a free and open source backup solution. FOG is actually a Linux based computer imaging solution that can be used to backup almost any operating systems including Windows Xp, Vista, 7, 8 and also Windows 10. This tutorial will show you how to install FOG Network Backup on Ubuntu 16.04 Server.
FOG utilize PHP based web user interface to manage and configure the backup. Not like many other network backup software, FOG use TFTP and PXE to boot the client computer. The client PC will boot via PXE and download small linux client that will do the imaging or backup jobs.
FOG is not an ordinary disk imaging solution. It has many features for your network backup solution.

Install FOG on Ubuntu 16.04 Server
From Terminal, execute the following commands
sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
sudo apt install git
git clone https://github.com/fogproject/fogproject.git fog_1.5.0/
The command will update and download fog 1.5.0 to your current directory. Please note that it will download large files from the internet. Next cd to fog directory
The installer will start and you will need to answer some questions during the installation process
This process will overwrite your apache2 and php installation. Please read carefully before you answer every questions.
The installation process could take some times. In my case, it took up to 30 minutes until everything is completed. Once completed, you will be asked to open FOG web management UI and install the database. See the following screenshot.
Finally, FOG Server is up and running. Use the user and password shown on Terminal console to login. Usually, the web management address is:
